Gathering food and medicine straight from the earth creates a deep and meaningful sense of connection. It’s only recently that we’ve traded growing, hunting, and foraging for store‑bought convenience, and that shift has disrupted the natural balance inside us and in the world we depend on. Through foraging, we reconnect with our roots and rediscover a sense of joy, confidence, gratitude, and harmony with the spirit of the land.
I’ve been an avid forager since 2013, ever since I discovered that even the common dandelion is a nutritious, edible plant. I grew up picking raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries with my grandfather, but that was the extent of my early experience with wild foods. Once I began exploring the broader world of edible and medicinal plants, I became fascinated by how much practical abundance nature offers when we know how to recognize it. Learning plant identification and understanding their everyday uses—whether for food, wellness, or simple self-reliance—came naturally, and over time it has become a core part of my life. Foraging has grown into both a passion and a practical skill set, one that brings nourishment, resilience, and a deeper sense of independence. It’s a path I feel called to share with anyone who wants to reconnect with the land and build confidence in providing for themselves.

A Beginner-Friendly Seasonal Journey into Wild Food (May 2 – October 31)
What if this was the year you truly learned your local landscape?
The Practical Foraging Program is a guided, hands-on journey through the wild foods and medicines growing right here in our region. Designed specifically for beginners and newer foragers, this program follows the natural rhythm of the seasons from the first spring greens to the roots and berries of fall.
We meet approximately every two weeks from May 2nd through October 31st for a total of 14 immersive classes. Each session focuses on what is emerging and abundant at that exact moment in the season because foraging isn’t learned from a list, it’s learned in relationship with the land.
What You’ll Learn
Over the course of the season, you will:
Confidently identify edible and medicinal plants in their natural habitat
Understand look-alikes and how to forage safely
Learn ethical and sustainable harvesting practices
Discover how plants change as the season progresses
Prepare wild foods, herbal teas, and basic medicinal preparations
Explore basic preservation techniques for long-term use
Develop a deeper awareness of your local ecosystem
Each class builds on the last, helping you see patterns, plant families, and seasonal cycles, not just individual species.
Who This Is For
This program is designed for:
Beginners who don’t know where to start
Nature lovers wanting practical, hands-on skills
People interested in food security and self-reliance
Those who want to feel more connected to the land

You can’t learn fall roots in May.
Foraging is seasonal and this program allows you to experience the full arc of wild food from early growth to seed and root. By October, you won’t just recognize a few plants, you’ll understand the rhythm of the land.
This is not a one-off workshop.
It’s a guided season of transformation.
